Allons-y!
19 Oct 2014 • joe-steel.comSoftware updates are all handled without user intervention. Software not in the MAS uses a variety of updating methods. Some run in the background and check for updates, prompting the user to download something. Others run only when an application is launched (which is the worst time to ask someone if they want to update their software, they just opened it to do work, not housekeeping.)
This is the worst. I hate every app that does this. I almost always click “no” because I’m ready to start working and have no idea how long a download or upgrade might take. For some apps its seconds, but a slow download of a large app and you’re into the minutes territory pretty fast.
How about an app that silently updates itself after I choose Quit? How does Chrome do this? It always seems to be magically up-to-date.
