In 29 states, as Fortune noted, you can be fired for saying what Cook did today. Lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth are four times more likely to attempt suicide than their peers, according to the Trevor Project. It appears to be these facts, more than anything, that moved Cook to act.
I’ve always said 100 years (but hopefully less) from now how we treated the entirety of the LGBT community will be seen in the same light as how we used to treat slaves. I’m just not sure why more people can’t open their eyes and see this today.
It’s so completely obvious to me.
