Why are the movies I want to watch never streamable?

John Gruber and Dan Benjamin are talking about Empire Strikes Back again... It's a cold snowy night here in Louisville so I thought I'd watch it.  Checked iTunes, nope.  Checked Netflix, nope [they only have DVDs].  Why is it the movies and TV shows I really want to watch are never available for streaming?

I don't have a list of examples, but this happens to me all the time.  Am I the exception to the rule?
