This is a general view of RA001’s cockpit, looking forward from the main cockpit access door. On the right is the flight engineer’s station, eliminated in later versions of the 747 with more modern ‘glass’ cockpits.

Is flying really this complex? What could all that instrumentation possibly be showing?
